That one. Thread starter is far from the second.

Moved Thread For non vic fans who disdain the AFL competition

Yes you are. That's the whole thrust of your OP, ie if you don't like the AFL competition then go and do something else - as if people can't follow the club while "having disdain" for the competition itself at the same time. As for "you are just trying to find an answer". Suuuuure you...

It's based on a false premise anyway, as I've pointed out.

Moved Thread For non vic fans who disdain the AFL competition

Because you can still love and follow your club and have so-called disdain for the league at the same time. You are making them out to be mutually exclusive concepts. They aren't.

You do, you keep talking about them.

    No, i don't. That's your interpretation.

Moved Thread Time to stamp out the use of 'interstate sides'

Again, how the supporters and the club itself regard their history is their business. I'm not even sure why supporters of another club would even care. Their AFL competition history however is how that competition records it. So it's from 97 onwards and only includes participation in the AFL...

Yes, to many it's still a Victorian competition masquerading as a national one it would seem. Including AFL HQ.

Pretty much agree with this, apart from the national competition bit (it's not national yet). Unfortunately to many Victorians seemingly, it's still their competition (and game).

As a club, they can treat their history as they see fit. If they want to include SANFL flags, that's fine. Within the AFL competition however, their history is limited to their time in that competition.

Originally so, but it was rebadged as the Australian Football League in 1990.

Perfect example of the sort of person the opening post is directed at. It's an Australian game, not a Victorian one.

Not after 1 game it isn't. It's silly.

Please don't make it about Carlton. Just call this discussion what it is. Stupid. It should be on the Bay.

    Meltdown Adelaide Crows

Pretty putrid effort by the Crows. Their supporters deserved better. All credit to the Tiges though.

Yep. Pretty sure his coach, Jeans, was as well.

Moved Thread Worst incident you've seen in a VFL/AFL match and why

*Greening was a ball player. He wouldn't have started the fight. *I'd suggest the reason his head hit the cricket pitch was that he was unconscious at the time. *O'Dea got 10 weeks suspension in 1972 - that would probably equate to a season these days. *I believe a member of the public saw what...

As per my previous post, that's just playing cute.

Moved Thread Worst incident you've seen in a VFL/AFL match and why

I guess you could argue that because the offender was smart enough to belt Greening without being seen, then it shouldn't be included in a thread such as this - because it wasn't "seen" - but I think that is being a bit cute. It's certainly the worst outcome of an incident in modern day VFL/AFL...

Thanks for that, I thought I had read that somewhere. I am glad he takes that view of the record too, classy approach.

Oh, absolutely, I agree. I doubt if he would have been concerned. He still holds the record in any case, he just shares it instead of holding it outright!

The incident at 1.26 in this video, during his year long paid holiday at the Swans, shows how low he was prepared to sink on the football field:

There was nothing redeeming at all about Milburn's behaviour that day.

I am trying to remember - he put one out on the full, he put another into the man on the mark (Barry Lawrence from memory) and he actually kicked one from the goalsquare from a Bob Keddie handball but the umpire called it back. That was all in the final term.

Yes, he was on fire that year. I guess I remember it so well because, like Greening, I am a Tasmanian.

Moved Thread Worst incident you've seen in a VFL/AFL match and why

On outcome alone, that would have to be easily the worst. The incident put him into a coma (he was in and out of it for a couple of weeks), there were actually fears he would die. He had to undergo physical rehab. He eventually made a comeback but that hit ruined his career. And his marriage...

Magro on Jesaulenko was one for me, Clarkson on Aitken another, Lockett on Caven (I was at the SCG for that one). A couple of others which aren't the worst but stand out because I was still young and impressionable, were Neale king hitting Hudson in the 71 GF and Balme king hitting Southby in...
