    Your favourite hikes

Hiking to Machu Picchu is something I'd absolutely love to do. Looks such an incredible, picturesque trail.

    Importing potatoes

Thanks for the response Marns, but I made that post way back in December. From what I've read, it's almost seed potato season so I'll be buying them locally (whether Melbourne or Tassie) in the next month or two. :thumbsu:

    Importing potatoes

Is it legal? No Australian sites seem to have any in stock (out of season?) so I was thinking of buying some seed potatoes for growing from overseas. Have no idea if it's legal to or not hence the question.

    Energy Drinks

Fan of Red Bull and Mother, not so much V. Very rarely drink them though. Generally take one in with me to uni exams to get me through a potential lull but that's about it.

    Fitness First

Try Melbourne Uni gym. Has excellent facilities including a pool and running track. Anyone can join but prices are higher for non-uni students. Was a breeze to join and wasn't hassled once.

    Potato Chips

:thumbsu: Not a big fan of the original but chicken Twisties are amazing.

    Potato Chips

This, though I very rarely eat chips. Used to be the Thins Light and Tangy as a kid but they're too hit and miss. Half the time there's not enough flavouring and they taste like original.

    How tall are you?

Short and fat or tall and weedy... You = fail

    Any running tips?

Doing the weights will fatigue your muscles so you'll struggle with running after a weights session. For me personally, I found 7 km/h felt uncomfortable. Between a fast walk (6-6.5) and a slow jog (8-9).

    Squat variations

Not easy to do heavy squats when the gym doesn't have a squat rack, so I'll have to make do with variations.

    Squat variations

What type of dumbbell squats would you recommend? Holding one down on either side or up at about shoulder level, holding only one heavier dumbbell b/w my legs (with my hands) or another variation? The plyo stuff looks cool and I tried to do a bit of it last year but I didn't have the...

    Squat variations

I've recently joined up to my local gym now that I'm on uni holidays (uni gym was great but too far to make the trip from home). Gym sucks. Has no squat bar so basically, so can't do traditional squats. Don't want to do squats on the Smith machine as it seems to have a lot of issues. I...

Steak.... How much do you love it?

How thick do you like your steaks? After years of eating the hardest, stringiest, overcooked steak that my mum would serve up, I've been experimenting cooking steak myself. Come from a family who like everything cooked till it's black (seriously - even a hint of pink and it'd be declared raw)...

Chocolate eclair's probably gets closest, after eating an ****en awful one back in school.

    Sports Nutrition & Supplementation

Can somebody recommend a good, cheap protein? How is A1 Supplements? Mentioned earlier in the thread and seems to deal with the American products which appear cheaper. Mainly recovering/muscle gain, so I'd want some carbs in it. Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey looks good, but I'd rather not spend...

    Good gyms in city?

So many trivial people in this world. I hope you don't lose any sleep knowing some people are uncomfortable stripping down naked in front of others. :thumbsu:

    Good gyms in city?

Thanks mdc. Sounds like my best bet. :thumbsu: I know you're type are used to letting hand loose, so I'll refrain from comment. :)

    Good gyms in city?

Never! I find it hard enough to use a urinal, let alone public showers.

    Good gyms in city?

Thanks for the reply. Does the Melbourne University gym have separate change rooms to the Sports Centre? I found the ones in the Sports Centre a little disconcerting, given you're basically standing around in a circle with everyone else. So the gym changerooms has "private" showers? And...

    Good gyms in city?

Looking for a gym in the city or thereabouts (around Melbourne University, so Brunswick is fine, too). Couple of requirements: -Fairly cheap, or have concession memberships -Have cubicle showers (call me insecure but I'm not having a shower in the open) Have been to Fitness First in...

    Help with weights program

178cm/74kg. Turn 19 in a month. I'm basically doing this in preparation for the footy season (a bit late, but better than never) as I make the move from 18s to reserves/seniors, so strength/fitness is my main priority. I'm not relying on that machine heavily at all - I'm doing most of my...

    Help with weights program

Definitely not all at once - I target 2 or 3 areas at most. I'm going for strength as opposed to size - moving up to reserves/seniors this year and am trying to build my strength to be able to compete (being perfectly honest, I'm pretty weak at the moment).

    Help with weights program

Hi all. I've gone about devising my own home weights program as I can't be arsed going to the gym (didn't get my L's till I was ~18 and am very slowly working towards 120 hours). Anyway, I've got a 60kg dumbbell/barbell set at home, as well as one of these home gyms: So reading through...

    Fast food alternatives

The short and long of it is I've been eaten an inhumane amount of takeaway in recent weeks. Didn't think much of it as I've wasn't putting on very much weight, but after the first day of preseason, I'm amazed I got through without going into cardiac arrest. First time I haven't been able to...

Was a Beach House a few minutes walk from home - had been going for probably a month and a half, till it shutdown (would've been Feb/March).
