I think it's something like 8 out of the last 11 games against the Cats we've been favourites. We all know how that's panned out, I'm sick of it tbh. FML!
Well Franklin is a confirmed out so I would imagine Rough would play. I'd be disappointed if we 'rested' any others, need to bounce back strong after our shocker last week.
As for resting players in general, we do have a tendency of doing it late in the season but with games against your mob...
Heard Derm mention on the radio this morning that he's been doing well and is back to full fitness, he reckons' he might be just what we need in terms of that 'inside pace' type that we've seemed to be lacking lately. Hopefully he gets a call up soon, this week would be ideal. Saints have a lot...
Wouldn't have thought so, we actually KNOW the feeling of beating them in a GF... on more than one occasion. As for tripe, I was just being honest. It made me laugh, truly. Great win though :thumbsu:
As far as I'm concerned, 12 wins in a row counts for nothing. We haven't learnt a thing in 5 fricken' years, absolutely pathetic. Laughable in fact. That's all you can do really, laugh.
Great point you make, there are often a few layers in amongst a particular stat that can be broken down even further as you've rightly pointed out. Based on averages though, stats are a pretty good overall gauge of a teams strengths & weaknesses. Loved your work with the analogies btw :thumbsu:
JustKickIt & jd1991 - excellent points you make there. No doubt the stats are skewed as we've only played 6 games this season and they've been up against some strong competition but considering we are a top 4 side I'd be inclined to think that our stats would actually be pretty consistent...
No doubt, so would I! :thumbsu: This is my concern though, I'd be more that happy if he was actually playing hbf for 50% of game time but it seems to me that it is more like 80%. Certainly against the Crows it seemed that way.
Hhhhmmm, seems I'm in the minority! LOL
Must admit I'm a little surprised but everybody has raised some valid points, each to their own I guess. Will be interesting to see how he goes against the Swans this week in his new role, he always gets tagged out of the game against them. Definitely...
A lot of valid points & I agree that it is a positive that we've managed to win games without a heavy reliance on Mitch. However, when the heat was on yesterday in the second quarter it seemed obvious to me that he should have been put in the guts. His cool head was needed in the middle to take...
He's still racking up the numbers across half back but I agree with Mighty P, he is at his best in the middle. We need him there, full stop. He seems to be moving less freely & his kicking has been a little off lately which is why I can only assume that he might be carrying something? Makes no...
.... Can't think of any other reason why he's been playing 80% of game time across half back?
It absolutely baffles me why one of THE best clearance players in the comp isn't in the centre square at almost every bounce. Sure, he's not getting any younger but the guy is still an absolute jet...
My worst DT trade of the year would be going Waters to M. Johnson after Beau was ruled out for up to 6 weeks by the so-called 'experts'. Since then, Johnson has gone back to his average DT form from previous years and Waters is back after only missing 1 game and has not missed a beat.
C'mon MJ...
Thanks for the reply 'leungtl'. Seeing as I don't have Broughton & most others do, I reckon I'll give MJ a go & hope he keeps racking them up! :thumbsu:
G'day guys, haven't been able to catch many Freo games this year so I'm just after some thoughts on M Johnson.
His DT scores have been more than solid and I've read that it's because he's playing that loose man in defence role.
Do you see this role continuing for the rest of the year? Would...
It's evident that he's slowing down a touch, but he is still a very valuable contributor. I'd still have him at our club... No doubt we would have won against the Cats earlier this year if he was!

Looks like I'm gonna keep the faith with Rocky then, switching to Boyd is mighty tempting though!
Thx guys, hopefully the faith is rewarded in tons!!! :thumbsu:
Re: Ask DT/SC Questions Here (Please Read First Page before Posting)
'Jas' & 'Chopper', thanks for the Rocky feedback... just out of curiosity, do both of you have him in your DT???
Re: Ask DT/SC Questions Here (Please Read First Page before Posting)
^ Thanks for your reply Jas... I only got to watch the last quarter but didn't notice Rocky at the centre bounces which was a concern. As for Brown coming back, won't that just mean that Merrett can move back to the backline...
Re: Ask DT/SC Questions Here (Please Read First Page before Posting)
Wow, wasn't expecting that from Rocky! I picked him up due to his amazing consistency last season and the fact that he was quite unique but his new role is a worry... is there an injury that we don't know about? Spending way...
Very happy with the team. Still not confident about our chances though unfortunately. They just always seem to get the better of us one way or another.
Unfortunately, there is nothing to suggest that we can beat the Cats. They always get the better of us, ironically it's their mental strength that is superior (thanks Jeff). Hope the boys prove me wrong though...
