What a win!!! Epic game. Amazing efforts across the whole team as usual. Harris redeemed herself in the last qtr. Our back 6 is the best in the comp.
Watching the women's team has reinvigorated me for the season to come. After the last couple of years just what I needed to get my enthusiasm...
Definitely can't see how Rockliff can remain at club as captain or player. Him and Hanley were my favorite players at the club, can't believe how much has changed this year.
Trusty reliable Greg Denham on SEN this morning claimed Barker was the slight favorite and also that we can't offload Rocky as no other clubs are interested ...
All sounds like pure media speculation and disgruntled norf supporters. Based on our recent track record of coaching appointments wouldn't be surprised to see us end up with Brad...
After Norf replace him with Fagan.
I thought from memory that it was Tudor and that Simpson hadn't got a look in. When I heard Connolly mention it last night just raised my curiosity.
Didn't realise there were quite a few posts about this already.
Any truth to what Rohan Connolly was talking about on SEN last night. He said that at the time Leppa was appointed coach the board's preference was Adam Simpson but Lethal vetoed this as he wanted Leppa instead?
3 years for 16 games pretty much = fringe player. Admittedly this is primarily due to injury keeping himself from fulfilling his potential as a top 5 draft pick.
I don't begrudge Polec for leaving, if you look at his 3 years since being drafted and at his inability to stay on the park, can't...
The difference is that these players are going to rival clubs. We put resources into developing these kids and when they leave their destination club benefits from our development. It would be akin to someone in the ADF migrating to another country and joining their armed forces.
I do agree...
A lot of us were surprised as much as the rest at the time. If you factor in Leuy's injury history up until that point and the fact Longer was not expected to be available at our pick that year I can understand the thinking behind his selection in the draft.
Any chance of the club testing the waters and seeing if any other Melbourne clubs would better Hawthorn's offer for Longer?
I don't like the idea of a second year top draft pick getting to dictate which club he wants to go to. If he wants to go back to Melbourne he should choose the club that...
With our resources we need all the freebies we can get.
Freeman sounds like a good prospect. But one downside I've heard is that he's not very vocal on the field.
Rocky's manager on Radio just said something along the lines of Tom's a contracted player and vice captain of the club, nothing happening there.
and on Docherty. Want's to come back to Melb, life in Brissy is to insular as no life outside of the club. Misses friends & family etc.
Heard conflicting reports regarding whether Buddy's contract is heavily back or middle-ended. I agree the potential risk for the club is great as they are relying on the player to honour any agreement. But in the Buddy case, Sydney can't seriously expect him to be playing for another 9 years...
But if the club and player have an agreement for the player to voluntarily retire, then my understanding is that the contract doesn't get paid out. That's what I'm pretty sure Matt Finis said on radio tonight.
Sydney has exposed a massive loophole in the free agency rules. What's to stop other free agents signing ridiculously long contracts to get to the club of their choice? Sign a 10 year contract retire after 5, Club only has to play first half of the contract. Therefore prevent the previous club...
Football department spending and facilities need to be on par with the other big clubs. Looks like the welfare department needs a bit of an overhaul as well. Really important to find why these junior players want out and have become disenchanted with the club, then do what we can to address...
Congrats to Leppa. Happy with the club's decision.
Not all assistants at premiership clubs make great coaches (Neeld). I definitely favoured Tudor based on his coaching pedigree, but Leppa did great things with our defense and by most reports is highly respected at Richmond. There's a reason...
He was interviewed by SEN and said was definitely looking forward to another preseason but would be dependent on whoever is the incoming coach. Had some interesting comments re recent events and players wanting to leave.
On thread, congrats Rocky!. Looking forward to a whole year of you...
We're already struggling to pay the minimum of the cap, don't think lack of a retention allowance is the core problem. Club needs to put more money into player welfare and the footy department. As well improved facilities asap.
I would say a combination of all the above. Add in the joke that is the board at the moment, lack of resources and cutting edge facilities compared to many other clubs and we get to where we are now. I don't see masses of players claiming homesickness and leaving from the other well run /...
