We should have gone after another mature ruckman like Grundy, Soldo, Goldstein, or a bunch of others (who were floating around in the off season) for a season or 2 at least, until guys like Conway and Edwards can step up as regulars.
Most would have been dirt cheap too, and anyone would be a...
They came with a plan and executed it perfectly last night. It was pretty amazing that first half. Geelong were shell shocked. One of the most under-appreciated coaches out there. If Port sack him, mark my words he will be back at Geelong and will teach Scotty a thing or two. Whether as a senior...
Those Geelong losing ones look a million times better than the 09,11 & 2022 winning Knight ones.
Shame that they couldn't have used/re-allocated those images for the Cat's more recent Premierships.
Not a fan of Knight's style at all when it comes to football posters. The 2009 Geelong winning...
Honestly, it's hard to put a number on it, as there are so many variables.
Bottoming out and doing a full rebuild (with next to no senior players) like North has been trying to do is fraught with danger.
They sometimes don't work out at all.
Very true.
Unfortunately, as Col so eloquently puts, we are surrounded by historical revisionists, determined to block out periods of history they don't like. Very sad state of affairs.
Yes, it has neen a little disappointing that we have not won B2B flags this century, but at the end of the day, a Premiership is a Premeirship I would have thought. We are still the equal most successful club this century.
Not sure the MCG is a problem for them any more than it is for other interstate teams.
Gotta sort their forward line out.
Other than that they have been mighty impressive in all but one stinker this season.
Probably the club I would like to win a flag the most after my own.
The fan base has...
Premierships are what it's all about, no matter how long ago they were. All supporters care about their club's tallies from the beginning, I would have assumed so anyway.
It does seem like a bit of a rough deal that Brisbane is expected to embrace/take on Fitzroy's history as their own (even going as far as wearing their colours for games which they play in Victoria), yet are not allowed include their Premierships.
I'd be totally OK with it, even though it would...
5. Z Guthrie
4. Holmes
3. Stengle
3. Clark
1. De Koning
Love seeing some others putting SDK and Clark in the votes too. Thought it was easily Clark's best, and SDK's best for some time.
Seeing quite a few comments on Jack Henry. No doubt he has been ordinary of late, but he is largely being asked to hold down a key defensive post/be a lockdown defender which is not really his go.
Probably tall enough, but like Kolo, better suited to taking the 3rd or 4th forward and being more...
A lot of our older guys looked really slow/had little influence on the game, and concerningly, it's becoming a real pattern for some of them.
C Guthrie looks a shadow of his former self out there (although he can be excused to a point because of his long lay off).
Hawk has lost all confidence...
Yep, I was one of his critics after all those impotent finals losses, but looking back, I think he probably got the best out of what we had at the time. The way he has reinvented this current team is mighty impressive. A team much more equipped to handle pressure under the finals heat. Another 2...
Looks like 3 1st rounders tor Jezza was an absolute bargain now, particularly as we also got some 2nd rounders back the other way. No way we win in 2022 without him, and looking on track to take us to the pointy end once again.
As for Brown and Watts, there's no nice way to say it. Melbourne...
He has done some despicable acts no doubt, but he still a young man who should be given another opportunity to prove himselt in my view.
Football is probably all he knows/is good at. Denying him the chance to ever play again, when I don't believe he has ever actually been convicted seems a bit...
Even Jeff Kennett, whose Hawks won't gain any extra flags is on board, not to mention Mike Sheehan, probably the most highly acclaimed AFL journalist ever.
They are on board because history is history, and cannot be unwritten. and we cannot allow the bitter revisionists to override that. The...
Whether it is this year or next, or the one after, or the one after that, I just know Scotty has another flag in him, which will unequivocally cement his legacy as one the very top coaches the game has ever seen.
With all things considered (including that the Tigers popped up for only a few...
Yeah, I remember at the time that the sacking came literally out of nowhere (or so it felt). I think they had just won a few games and looked to be turning it around as you say. Then they were left with egg on their face and approached poor Leppa.
Yes that was horrific. Fremantle seem to often sack coaches in a poor manner. Harvey's was even worse. Even how they sacked Ross in the end was very disrespectful. None of this has helped their culture. Should always treat those who have served your club with the respect they deserve.
