    MCDFL - 2011 PRE Season

James was never coming back and the former coach knew that. He was told at a meeting in 2010. The official statement on the club website was that he resigned and he approved the wording of it along with a family member of his after the meeting where his role ended at Dunolly. A number of...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Who cares what a journo writes? You've got the cup. There's no asterisk next to your Premiership win because a country paper journo said you were second to the ball. Sandhurst won't be taking any solace in a couple of paragraphs. Anyone got some comments for the MCDFL GF as it is the thread...

Yep. Totally different scenario. Sheeds had plenty of runs on the board.

I can never understand this when a struggling team signs a coach on for 2 years when he is yet to prove anything. It's not like anyone will steal him from Essendon.

Lol. Should have read past the first post before I replied.

Mission complete M. Knights. Resembling them on and off the ground.

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Good post and you raise good points. Dunolly had 12 guys that played juniors at the Club in their grand final team. Looking at Carisbrook's flag team in 2008, I would suggest they had 6-8. Not knocking them, but nothing is made mention of the fact that they have recruited from other teams...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Plenty of Tiwi boys have travelled successfully in higher leagues than MCDFL. If done well, these 3 should provide something for Dunolly. They are raw and it will probably take them a while to get comfortable with the culture and climate change.

    Then get off the thread.

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Just out of curiosity, who is the stale MCDFL administration? The Hub? They've been in operation for 2 years. Recruiting more umpires is a brilliant idea. How is this done? People hardly line up for that sort of job. The stat is that around 50% of umpire recruits leave before the 2 year mark...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

What is par for MCDFL anyway? Honestly it is pretty hard to cheat as a goal umpire and I've hardly seen any of these 'blatant attacks' by goal umpires.

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

I see you post in the RDFL and BFL forums. 2 leagues around a large population base. I'm sure that helps with umpire numbers and the quality of umpires like it does with the standard of football played. The MCDFL is reliant on volunteers and these 'interested onlookers' who are bagging the...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

You made all those conclusions from watching just one game? Maybe watch a few more before you call for an overhaul and all the clubs to make a stand. The goal umpires are volunteers and supplied by the club. Generally the boundary umpires are the same. Umpire participation levels are at a low...

He ended up getting a job that was more suited to what he was after that enabled him to stay at his club. Sounds like special thanks to the assistance of a prominant MCDFL personality too.
  15. J

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Is it the VCFL pushing this or the Hub? If it goes to a vote I don't think a single MCDFL club would even entertain the idea. Dunolly and Avoca have been there and done that. They both copped floggings that would be in the record books yet squared off in the prelim final last year. If both...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Steader has hit this on the head. Distance is not the only concern. 1. There will be 19 teams. All things being equal you win 1 Premiership in 19 years. We know all things are not equal. 2. The quality over quantity argument is mute. The Lexton Plains may have got rid of the quantity with...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Yeah your concept is the best solution but the main point to this never happening is that the Hub do not manage the CHFL. It would make bad business sense to propose a league where there won't be any income. I've seen the proposal and it probably makes the best sense for the Hub at this moment...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Dunolly posted its best yearly profit in the past 5 years in the 2009 season so that comment is off the mark. In relation to players leaving, I think there are legit reasons why guys won't be at the club in 2010. Some guys we would have loved to have back if circumstances were different, but at...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Motlop: Has got a job as a Director with Clontarf in Mildura and is playing at Robinvale. His employment in Darwin ceased and this was the best option for him. Ahmat: Carisbrook. Confirmed. Saunders: I think he has met with one or two clubs and won't be at Dunolly. McNamee: Is a Regional...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

That's a bit rough on TK. He had a great season for Dunolly. He was great value for money, he lived in town, trained all the time, the guys thought the world of him, and both parties would go again if he hadn't retired from Southern Footy. He still says the GF was the worst game he has ever...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Robbie Ahmat is the link. He's signed with them too. I spoke to him Christmas eve and he told me he had heaps of gun players ready to go wherever he was going for 2010. Dingo is probably a top 10 player in the league up here and could have a go at VFL or SANFL if he wanted. He hasn't played...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

With all the talk of Dunolly coming to Darwin to recruit players, it seems another MCDFL club has quietly gone about their business and landed one of the NT Thunder list from 09. Good signing.

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Yeah Shannon has relocated to Mildura for work with Clontarf, which is a school based football academy for indiginious kids. As a result of living in the area he is going to play with John Jackson who was another one of the Wanderers players in the NTFL this season. We we're stoked to get...

    Relton Roberts

Having seen a lot of Relton i would liken him to Leon Davis but with better skills. I'd love to see Relton given a crack in the Nab Cup despite because him being unfit he will 100% easily hold a spot in the Richmond side. Granted Relton is not your Shane Crawford type who can run all day...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

As said before, they go to other leagues in the state. They would not be best suited to MCDFL with the little ground. Not even on the radar for Lee.
  26. J

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Tiwi Bombers only have the highest total score for and the lowest against in the NTFL. Also you don't really go over to the Islands to recruit a FB or CHB. It's a bit of a side point as I can't see any of them going to MCDFL anyway. Most tend to go to Essendon District, Diamond Valley or WAFL...
  27. J

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

There would be more AFL scout interest in the Tiwi Islands than the whole of Central Victoria. They are the X factor that the AFL love and are perfect for the forward pocket role played by many indigenous footballers. Rich is correct on the social side of things as Maryborough is a long way...

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

If Leeroy wants NT players he will get them. Like I said, he has some good contacts and the team will be a contender. All the young guys have now got Grand final experience so they are much better players for last year's experience. Tiwi Islanders in the MCDFL would be a sight.
  29. J

Maryborough Castlemaine District FL (Part 2)

Lee is the coach for 2010. He's hit the ground running and will be a good coach for Dunolly. They will be a very handy team again as he has good contacts for recruiting and will get the guys very fit. James is signing with NT Thunder in the QAFL for 2010 and having a go at a higher level.
