    Rookie Draft

i know it is a bit pointless talking about rookie draft because we have little idea about who will be there. We have 4 rookie spots available. Club has said we will rookie Delaney if still there. I would support giving a rookie spot to Nahas. Until injured I thought he was lively and gave value...

    Just thinking

What would Jack have got if he hit Westhoff in the manner Walker did. Cannot believe Walker did not get weeks for that.

    2013 scheduling

On what planet does Gold Coast versus saints outrate nth v collingwood. This game has prime time free to air and we have pay tv crap time. It is neither fair nor logical.

    Calendar download

A while back there was a link that allowed us to download a fixture and it automatically went into our calendar which was a great help in planning. Does this still exist and if so can anybody provide details.

    West Coast in Hobart

Was thinking of going but the ticket sales are a bit awkward. Ticket sales for July 7 match open on June 4 a little over 4 weeks before the match. Do not want to book flights in case I cannot get tickets. The packages mostly do not include tickets or flights. Anybody found a way to overcome this?

    I am confused

I understand that Drew misses out by a month for eligibility for Veterans and there is no one else close. So next year we only have Boomer as a veteran and this allows us to take 7 rookies. I understand that!. But what are the allowable numbers? At the moment we have 40 on the list less Boomer...

    Letter from Peter De Rauch

My family received letters from Peter de Rauch today re the AGM. I suggest that you treat this carefully. Reading between the lines I think he is challenging Mark Brayshaw. I may be wrong and it may be that the letter etc is inelegantly written. I intend to do nothing about the letter until I...

    Positives and Negatives

A lot of positives today and they mostly centre on our newer players. The negatives: David Hale: Just cannot seem to get into the game. Lachie Hansen:How many years do big blokes need? Terrible today. Pratt: the end is nigh Tarrant: Will cut him some slack but a lot of fumbles out there today.I...

What is the deal with the Rookie Draft

Does anybody know what the deal is with the rookie draft? We have 4 retained rookies, including one who is an Irish International. I thought that in the wake of the Gold Coast/West Sydney that rookie lists were expanded. Also that two rookies can now be mature aged. Are these two in addition...

    Draft Strategy

Interesting article by Emma Quayle in Age today. She points out that the draft is shallow and this is primarily due to the change in the age of draftees. This takes out a fair chunk as has the priority signings of the Gold Coast. She believes that there is little to seperate the draftees after...

    Assistant Coaches

So far it has been all quiet on the assistant coaches. Just crossed my mind that maybe some of our targets are still involved with their respective clubs. If this is the case then we may be looking at David Teague and Martin Pike from Preston, Nigel Lappin from Geelong or Tony Elshaug from...

Delisting a hard task this year

It is funny to finish so low on the ladder and yet have such a difficult task to work out the delistings for this year. Simmo and Watt are the obvious ones. Then it gets difficult. My method has been to choose a side and then look at the rest. Here it goes: B: McMahon Thompson...

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing

When the team selections were announced there was near universal acclaim. Jones was a worthy selection in that he could provide a lead up forward role etc. Of course we lost badly and the predictable threads come out, primarily that it is Laidley's fault, less so that it is Bewick's fault...

    Training Today

Saw the boys from the tram down Royal Parade. Corey Jones and Jess Smith were on bikes. In the group I saw running, Riggio seemed to be struggling. Worst sight was Campbell on crutches with a huge bandage around his right knee.

    Not Happy

I am loath to criticise recruiters and what they do at the National Draft and I will be glad to eat my words if I am wrong BUT why take Sam Wright [Phantom Draft 45] instead of a big bloke with that X factor who loves the roos i.e Shaun McKernan. At 43 we take Liam Anthony who is not mentioned...

    Arden St Development

With suburban footy finished for me I got the opportunity to fully read the Age. Pleased to see notice in Government notices re planning application for the redevelopment. Can be viewed until Sept 15 and objections lodged. Looks like we are really on the way.

    This could work

Call it Archers' 5000. Put up a wall at Arden St and a plaque for each of the 5000. 5000 sign an enforceable contract to contribute $250 a year for 4 years. This could be split into two 125s or monthly debits with a small increase to $270 a year to cover costs. This would eliminate the debt...

Boy, Am I ever going to be savaged!!

I am starting to think that the Gold Coast option may be worth exploring. Before you all start to have fits hear me out and then let loose the invective. Firstly, in other posts I have asserted that the shareholdings are holding the club back and many of us are angry because we feel [and...
