Cleary is the sort of guy who plays 150 games and opposition fans won't recognise him.
Does what he's asked, no fuss, needs gym time to get the strength to stick tackles as GWS rolled their forwards pretty heavily and he often had to take bigger opponents. Uses the ball well too.
Took a good overhead mark that quarter. Doesn't seem to have that natural confidence other kids have, but in time when he feels like he belongs at the level he's going to be great for us.
You can see his ceiling and it's damn high.
Honestly, I see it differently. I think the issue is more decision making than purely ball use, and that can be improved with time. His games as a run-with player were excellent too, especially his game on Cripps last year.
The way footy is played now, you just can't have enough players who can...
KT was my first thought too.
In purely playing terms, John Longmire is thought of as 'the Swans coach' but people forget just how incredible a player he was too, especially pre-injury.
That's probably the sort of thinking that will get a deal over the line.
With clubs having FS & academy bids, player movement deals are getting more complex
Macrae/Sanders combo as extractors.
I want Baz to stay as gut-runners are gold the way AFL trends are going. I'm still not confident though. Richards & Baz as the mids who rotate through who can burst means we can survive in the post-Treloar era
We'd probably come to an agreement with him.
AFLPA has a fund that may cover part of next years' contact. I'd be comfortable paying him next year somehow after all the service he's given our club. Other clubs have taken players as a rookie the year after they retire to finalise their...
I'd argue that experience is more of a pre-requisite for the sub role than pace
Hard for a kid to come in and hit the ground running late in the game.
CD has experience and can play multiple positions.
I weirdly think Anthony Scott would make a good sub too.
We absolutely have to bring in a small defender this year at the draft.
I'd even be tempted to take Nyko at the MSD to develop. Richards seems set to take Treloar's spot as that primary quick mid in time.
Hudson was still the best at "blocking traffic" after a ruck contest to allow the mids to get the ball. His recovery after hitting the ground was actually remarkable.
A no-stat, underrated skill.
There's a little more historical context to add too considering Essendon were nomadic at one time and the "Same Olds" tried to takeover Hotham's (now North Melbourne's) ground.
Note: I've avoided using Essendon's far more racist nickname at the time prior to them settling on "Bombers"...
6, slightly quicker than your average inside mid.
His sidestep is more important than his acceleration though.
I've noticed that he often holds the ball for an extra second before handballing so an opponent overcommits to him which makes his handball target freer for the next possession. It's...
Yeah - and given he's gone through a lot in his career (ACLs) and has a Premiership medallion already, I'm not hopeful we get to see Libba again. Absolute fan favourite too so it's tough to lose him
