This is a narrowminded, un-informed comment. The club has just now dug itself out of a huge debt left over from a past committee with sheer hard work. It has played in the last 2 Grand Finals, without paying a single cent to a single player. Would easily have had 2 cups in the cabinet if it...
Haven't heard anything on the coaching situation at Boga in '07, but I have heard some big names from the Premiership side of '03 are returning.
It would surprise me greatly if Parsons was to coach elsewhere in the league, especially a town-club. Just doesn't add up.
I wouldn't say Brock Parsons is "an umpires favourite" at all. He is one of the most well prepared country footballers I've seen, from fitness on and off the track to match day preparation and performance, a true professional who plays the game the way it should be played, he well and truly...
I've said it before and I'll say it again... Rikki Pumpa does not receive anywhere near the respect he deserves. He should definitely be mentioned in the same sentence as Arentz and Carroll.
Just a brilliant, old fashioned full-forward. Simple.
Powerhouse? You've got to be joking. Not much senior silverware in the cabinet at Cohuna since it joined the CMFL. And please don't use the 'swan hill biased league' as an excuse, for not having any silverware. That has nothing to do with the big stage in September.
CMFL Grand Final 2003. Swan Hill defeats Lake Boga in the first semi final by 10 goals, 2 weeks later in the Grand Final, Swan Hill red-hot favourties, Lake Boga beats them by 10 goals to break a 28 year drought.
20 goal turnaround in 2 weeks. Different ball game, finals.
Didn't see that one myself, but heard it was a massive upset.
What about '93, Woorineen v Swan Hill. 44 goals, and absolute scoring fest - I think it was the Granny when Tony Keely single handedly tore Swan Hill apart.
new topic boys...
What would be the most memorable CMFL Grand Final of the last 20 years? Hasn't been many close ones, but which Grand Final stands out as memorable. Might have been and individual performance, an upset, a great mark etc...
Couldn't agree with you more Gastev on your comment about Rikki Pumpa. A proven champion goalkicker who has way more footy smarts than anybody gives him credit for.
Lake Boga 1993. Mid season, after a particularly bad loss to Tyntynder, Coach Rod Wardle ordered a 5am meeting at Lake Boga the next morning. The team was forced to swim in the lake, out to a buoy and back, in near frozen water. One of the more bizarre incidents to happen that year, but must...
I agree, the standard of umpiring is below par, especially in the CMFL.
But has anyone actually stopped to think why the standard of umpiring is so low? It's because of the constant criticism these guys cop on the ground and in forums like this... It's enough to scare anyone away from doing...
Apparently Scotty Cummings used to get called 'Sonya'.. After arriving back from a particularly good off-season he was carrying a few extra kilos... Someone said to him "Geez, you've got a gutS-ONYA"
As far as I know Rikki Pumpa will be lining up for Boga again. He's like a fine wine, gets better with age. He kicked 15 goals or something stupid like that against Cohuna last year. Brock Parsons is at the helm again.
Apparently Lake Boga have also picked up a couple of handy recruits...
