At the risk of throwing another message into the ether.... anyone permitting some bye players this weekend? [emoji28]

This cuts me to the bone. McHenry should be in our 22 every week and Scholl should be moved on to another club. He hasn't got the heart or composure to play AFL footy. Last night was one of his better performances recently and he still slaps it on the boot without looking like an ultimate...
Howdy folks, it's been awhile but it's nostalgic to be back! Can't wait for some local footy to start going again.
I've referenced this post because I'm interested in how promotion/relegation of Community 1/2s would work when every club in those grades have a team in both grade. Is the idea...
Undeniably affects a team's chances at moving up (or down) the ladder, not just scoring percentage boosts but the effect on win percentage. Without diving into the fixture, it could still have an impact on whoever finishes top 2 out of the top 3.. but probably not the top 4. %ages, games played...
Think this is an extremely poor decision (or avoidance of decision?) by AFL Canberra. Most people in the league would be feeling for the bay, but the place had had new cases crop up at least twice now and it's a health risk that should be taken seriously. Not to mention the farce that is riding...
IMHO this isnt going to be in a state by June where it's a good decision to play out a shortened season, but it's not a terrible decision to take the 'delay and hope' position.
Out of interest...
Is there anyone in regional that wants regional to stay?
Is there anyone in divs 3 and 4 that wants regional to be folded back into those divisions?
Looked like belco had most of their usual side in for the semi, with maybe 1 or 2 handy supplements. Good on Belco for sticking to their side and still getting the job done. Expect Coota will win by a large margin this weekend but hope that's not the case.
Good luck to all involved
Couldn't see the regional comp continuing in current format. Not sure if that means:
-simply back to 2 divisions (Which was good last year)
-clubs trying to get or align 2 teams (e.g Coota 3s Goulburn 2s)
-enough teams leave/cease that regional is impossible
-regional secedes
Hoping it's one of...
With the number struggles regional has had this year it's a bit of a joke to talk down on forfeits anyway. Good on Goulburn for heading down and having a crack though. Good pride there.
Have we heard if afl Canberra have tried to shaft a regional grand final to Sunday yet? This is purely my...
Personally would think it a good idea. They've got nothing to gain and have an elimination final next week. No reason to risk the likely injuries/soreness that will come from playing it.
Similar thing for Cooma but with double chance and the appeal of playing at home the reasons aren't quite as...
I think having the numbers to rest players is a luxury that some of the top 4 regional teams might not have. Definitely potential for some upsets there though considering the only teams that can affect their ladder position are fighting off the spoon
Whistling Willy on the money again.
Only way that Coota gets an 'easy' grand final is if Belco have a bunch of players to get them over the line in the preliminary that aren't available in the grand. That's assuming they go straight in but who knows what numbers Cooma will have come finals time.
Expect someone will get the better of Coota this year, but it will only happen once. Which game/team I've no idea
Interesting that some of the comments here in support of looking after the '3 team clubs' are coming from clubs (or those attached) that may not have survived to grow had they been...
Its definitely not ok that clubs are in this situation but I do think it's better to have the game with 7 fill ins than no game at all. That'd be pretty hard on Yass but if that's the case they should be taking it to AFL Canberra about the situation they have created. Don't think regional clubs...
A week after discussing forfeits and the struggle that regional comp puts on having numbers each week, we are talking 'too many' fill ins?
I'd think the number of fill ins shouldn't matter in this comp, it's more important to be able to play football and not have players missing out on playing...
Really think this is overkill. The points lost from a forefeit are bad enough.
It's also not even on punishment because if we only have 1 game left against a side which we forfeit, there is no home game to swap. If it went a bit more extreme, a team really struggling might have to forfeit all...
Not here. Belconnen look to have a very competitive outfit and I look forward to seeing what they do with a full squad on the park (only game I've seen they were apparently quite short).
Coota are a quality side and they can only play who the league puts them against. They are beatable but it...
Thanks Willy that's what I thought but wondered if I was missing much. Fair bit of cash in registration for providing.. a draw.. I would have thought. Anyways was just wondering, not trying to seceed 😅
I know they've split and rejoined recently, just thought surely they wouldn't repeat it again...
While AFL Canberra have proven to be unpredictable, I don't see why they'd go back to the 10/10 after doing all this to split into 3 divs.
On promotion/relegation, while ladder position should be a major factor I think it's irresponsible to make a decision purely on that and for one year...
Totally agree with all of this. I should have been clearer. I was thinking in terms of the growth of AFL mens playing numbers and teams in the competition. Could have been thinking more broadly, although I'm not real concerned with the 2 team clubs having stretched resources... would have...
Southern Cats have posted an advertisement for a new coach, which explains the training situation. The player base is spread from Jindabyne to Canberra/Queanbeyan/Googong.
"After a successful 2018 campaign in which the Cats captured their first Premiership in 34 years the Club is now seeking...
