Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

Naivety is you thinking Warren has drunk the "Ken Kool Aid". I know for a fact that this is not the case. Whether you choose to believe that is up to you.

Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

You'd have to be super naive to think that what Warren says in public is the same as what he says behind closed doors. Just trust the man. He didn't let us down as a player and he won't let us down as a board member.

It was different back then, you didn't need as many votes to win. Cousins won on 20 votes, that wouldn't even get you in the top 10 these days. Judd got 30 but he was miles ahead of second place who only got 23. I think it's probably possible to win with two superstar mids but still difficult...

I wouldn't be surprised if those odds were totally wrong and JHF actually had more votes than Rozee and Butters at this point. He's already a proven vote getter and his style of play is so damaging and noticeable, plus he kicks goals. The only way one of the three ever win a Brownlow is if one...

    Player Watch Pick #52 (2013) - Darcy Byrne-Jones

Reid's goal was great but wouldn't be considered the clubhouse leader for goal of the year if it was Tom Powell kicking it in front of 5000 people in Hobart. I suppose they do take into account all the hype and atmosphere surrounding these things though.

Opinion Sack Hinkley 10 - UnTENable

All you have to do in this argument is stick to the basic facts. As of this weekend there isn't a coach in the 127 year history of this competition who has coached this many games without appearing in a grand final. It is an unprecedented reign of mediocrity and clearly highlights our club's...

Review Round 10, 2024 vs Hawthorn

I've been one of the doubters on Sinn but this little two week cameo has shown that he could be at least a solid half back flank type. Still can't see the high end talent that would justify pick 12 but I guess not every pick 12 ends up being Zak Butters. It's disappointing that we probably won't...

Pretty clean bill of health to have at this time of the season. Only Soldo and SPP missing from our best 22 with Sinn the only other with even the prospect of being in the frame for selection.

Review Round 10, 2024 vs Hawthorn

I suspect if you watched the game back without the emotion you'd come to the conclusion that it was mainly the first quarter where we played badly. The first quarter was diabolical, we just didn't come with the right mindset and got jumped. The middle two quarters were just a scrap in difficult...

Review Round 10, 2024 vs Hawthorn

It was clearly holding the ball. If you don't have prior opportunity all you need to do is attempt to dispose of the ball, which Amon did. But he had prior opportunity so his failed attempt to kick should've been penalised. We were a DBJ soccer away from being robbed Crows style.

Which would never have happened if not for the Jed tackle. Would it really hurt your ego that much to just give him credit for that single act that was decisive in the result of the game?

Reid is great but West Coast don't have much else in the futures stakes. Most of their picks in recent years look quite mediocre. They'll need to draft well to replace a lot of the older guys who have come back and helped them improve this year.

CD said it's happened at training before. So it seems like something that is always in the background but not life threatening enough to end his career. PJ Power might be able to give us a better idea?

OK so I'm high in the saddle after Jed's match winning tackle. What would we lose by playing McKenzie instead of Burton? Literally what does Burton offer that McKenzie couldn't?

    Player Watch Willie Rioli

Every player who arrives either by draft or trade and is a good kick for goal we eventually turn into a classic Port Power spray merchant. Marshall, Georgiades, Finlayson all great recent examples. This guy is the first ever exception to the rule.

10 seconds left and there's 18 Hawthorn players losing their minds trying to defend in any way they can, 17 Port players desperately trying to get the ball and kick it through the big sticks and 1 guy just disciplined and sticking to his role to the very end 💪

Because it's supposed to be the same distance and yet 9 or 10 metre marks are regularly paid whilst players regularly run 21 or 22 metres without being pinged. The disparity is ridiculous.

Mega Thread Port Forum General AFL Thread Part 27

That's my point. If you're happy for players to run 20 or 25 metres then just change the rule, nobody will care. The current interpretation is a mockery, especially by contrast to the 15 metre mark rule.

The Rankine run has been measured at 24.2 metres. Exactly the point I make about this. He runs 24.2 metres and people are conditioned to think that distance is on the borderline. He should've been pulled up a full 9.2 metres before he was.

Less comparable but still. Hawthorn: 8 qualifying finals (to our 8) 7 preliminary finals (to our 7) = 5 grand finals and 4 flags for them, 2 grand finals and 1 flag for us
  27. TeeKray

Opinion Sack Hinkley 10 - UnTENable

The perfect contrast is the West Coast Eagles who would theoretically be the club we should be benchmarking against (clubs from Victoria, NSW and Queensland enjoy various advantages we don't have). Since we entered the AFL: 1 minor premiership 6 qualifying finals (4 at home) 5 preliminary...

The running too far rule is the worst officiated rule in the game and that's a fiercely competitive category. Next time you see a short kick that gets paid a mark, consider what would've happened if a player ran that same distance. Theoretically, they should be pinged for running too far as...
