I’ve got a 5 game membership with the Eagles. Back pre AFL reserves Id go to most games.
Any new team would struggle to get any more attendance than what they’d get playing amateurs or country footy.
The key thing after the reserves leave is getting people back linking themselves to an SANFL...
Back in 1963 when they put together a council to assess the admission of Central and Woodville the following year, it was put forward that 8 teams should remain, but South Adelaide move to Elizabeth. It was put forward that Woodville shouldn't come in, as there would be too many teams in the...
I agree, I'd go back to the October Long Weekend GF. Shouldn't be hard to finish before the AFL though. I reckon a Top 4 and only 3 weeks of Finals would be on the cards. Double Header Semis > Prelim > GF.
I agree re consolidation. The 8 teams already represent and work in both metropolitan and country zones, covering all of South Australia.
I think 21 Rounds, where each team plays the other three times in a season, would work. I'd love to see each team play 3 games in the country (2 in their...
Need to win the next 4. Should win 3 of the next 4. Will most likely win 2 of the next 4. A loss before the bye and they should be 100% planning for 2025.
We had them on toast in that last quarter until we got in front.
With a minute to go in the 1st and scores level, I knew we’d give up a goal before the quarter was out and then give up the 1st goal of the 2nd.
It is predictable. We simply can’t get in front and control a game. We can stay in...
Shaun Rehn.
Arguably Adelaide’s most important player of all time. Easily its best ruckman. In the era of a ruckman play a kick behind the play, he’d judge and mark everything.
Played 6 games as a 19 year old towards the end of the Crows first season in 1991. All-Australian in 1994. ACL in...

To fulfill the need for big crowds, blockbuster games for tv and trying to have a fairer fixture.
First 18 rounds is home and away with all the blockbuster games doubling up plus more (I.e. all the VIC clubs play each other twice).
The next part of the season sees the best against the best...
The draw during the season is fine as is. Has ladder implications re percentage being relevant or not, which can make things interesting as the season progresses. It is good they’ve changed to extra time in finals.
Unfortunately we can't follow up after a good win. Beat Carlton, go down to Essendon. Beat Port, draw with Brisbane. We are close and usually in games. That seems to be a Nicks trait and gives us a chance.
Fogarty was good. Himmelberg was dangerous enough on Andrews, albeit Andrews still...
When we’re over 200 on that pressure rating, we’re winning. That is what McHenry brings. Not everyone is a Rolls Royce. McHenry has played his role the last month, especially with the absence of Murphy and Pedlar, who can bring similar pressure in that small forward role.
We'd all love to have...
Exactly. It was right to debut him last week after the good game he had in the SANFL. He did ok in the Showdown. He got exposed playing on the 6th Brisbane forward.
Lets see what he's made of and how quickly he learns. With Worrell injured, he can play either as that 3rd tall or has shown he...
How about Southport as the 20th team? Go all in on the Gold Coast and at the same time use these teams as expansion teams into Northern Territory and Northern Queensland. Their football club already well established and a stadium already built on the Gold Coast.
Gold Coast to continue it's work...
With regards to the climate in Darwin, is the main reason football is played from March-October more because cricket can't be played in the wet season? Would the dry season actually suit professional football more, given they'd have sprinklers to maintain a decent surface etc.

I agree. Adapting to the midfield and still hitting the score board. Seems to be playing with more maturity as this season progresses. To me, he is standing out as a leader of the club along with Dawson, Hinge and Tex.
Betts and McLeod were unbelievable players for us and so exciting to watch...
Fair call. IMO Port and Crows have been completely unreasonable in the whole reserves fiasco. Give them the option of joining up with the northern states/Southport or suck it up and keep it as is.
For when Tassie comes in and there is 19 teams:
Conference Stage - 18 Weekends
Victorian Conference - 10 Vic teams play each other home and away - 18 Rounds, 18 Games
National Conference - 9 Interstate teams play each other home and away - 18 Rounds, 16 Games (2 byes each)
1st placed in each...
I wouldn't mind seeing that from an SANFL supporters point of view. From a Crows supporters point of view, I'd think that would be a massive waste of time and money. I would think the AFL have an obligation to provide as much of a fair playing field to it's AFL teams as possible, first and...
Align 9 of the U18 VIC teams with the current 9 stand alone VFL clubs and create three new VFL clubs in Ballarat, Bendigo and Albury/Wodonga to align with the 3 U18 VIC teams in these regions. The VFL then becomes a 12 team league with juniors in a similar set up to the SANFL and WAFL, playing a...
He could be provided he maintains a hard edge, as his slight build doesn't conduce to the type of player he is. Does well in traffic with clean hands and one of the few who can bullet a 20m pass, off a step, into the middle of the ground to set play going. Not so much a run and carry type...
The usual suspects, Sholl and McHenry, are playing well enough to be starting 22 at the moment. Sholl in particular had a very good night. Nankervis attempt at mark, going back with the flight in the last quarter, was terrific. Moments later he delivered the ball in to the forward 50. Fantastic...
Looks a player versatile enough to be used as needed, anywhere on the ground, in the first 22. Get as many games into him as possible in the AFL. His upside isn't anything we currently have on the list.
From first impressions, he was very much minding his player and playing conservatively...
Yes, get rid of the Crows and Power in the SANFL. I can't stand either. The SANFL will be better for it. It won't make an ounce of difference to the outcomes of the Crows or Power AFL sides.
These smaller Vic clubs should be doing what the Western Bulldogs are doing in Ballarat.
Why not make a second home out there with the support of the AFL and local councils and play 2-3 games per year?
The Saints down south and Gippsland.
The Bulldogs already at Ballarat.
North Melbourne to...
