You see, the thing about these blokes that end up killing their partners is they actually try so. bloody. hard. to warn us that they’re going to do it.
They’re all known to police
They all have a history of violent crimes
They’ve all done it before
Then the inevitable happens and we wander why
People used to talk about this stuff in the 90s, which was fair enough as it was actually AFL policy.
It’s not remotely on anybody’s radar now, nobody is merging.
They now look to bring them in at Under 15 level.
Three seasons of juniors and they’re a “home” Vermont player and a one pointer.
Unbelievable…
Simple tweak of the rules required, if you qualify for multiple home clubs then only the first one counts (unless it has folded etc).
League HQ would have them in a heartbeat, just not sure the clubs would vote them in. They’ve had 20 years of endless expansion and from what you hear, plenty of clubs are over it.
Modern footy is all about the midfield as we know… Daicos Serong Petracca Walsh Merrett Bontempelli Butters Miller Rowell is insane. As you say you can take a couple out and they would still torch anybody.
The NRL SOO might have the two teams with the bitter rivalry, but I think the whole point and advantage of an AFL weekend would be the national aspect of it - all states are involved.
I don’t see that as a weakness.
I would play it after the season. Maybe two or three weeks after the GF. The...
Not solely, but it was a decent part of it. It landed them Wade, Rantall and Davis who were all critical in 75.
It was part of an aggressive recruiting effort that won the flag - as well as those three they landed Crosswell, Blight and Cable as well as Barassi as coach.
Careful, that’s the famous Vermont “junior program” you’re talking about.
Interesting though, AFL Vic just dropped their U18 and U16 metro squads and there’s not a mention of Vermont. Plenty of other EFNL clubs. Good to see these things now published and the clubs mentioned, publicly pours...
Here comes Narre…
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/localfooty/afl-outer-east/narre-warren-has-set-a-special-general-meeting-to-discuss-its-future/news-story/b248fabc61fa3e915877f033aaaaee8b
Leader says it’s just a club meeting for Narre as they discuss their future.
I would say Southern is their only option? MPFNL is out, WGFNL wont have them. With the huge restructure that Eastern have just done, along with what has happened to Berwick, I highly doubt they would be going there -...
A couple for Essendon regarding coaches, though not big on the AFL stage.
For opposite reasons… I’ve heard plenty of people actually say the Matthew Knights was a good coach who was stiff to be sacked by Essendon.
Tbf it’s mostly Richmond supporters talking about a favourite son.
Knights was...
I mean it depends what you mean by “produced”, when you’re a private school that simply buys dozens of the best child athletes as part of your **** measuring process, then it’s to be expected that many of them will go on to be professionals.
Delaying tactic. It’s controversial so even with the LNP in power, it’s probably 5-10 years of talking shit about it. Commit to going nuclear, before you even start building one there’s probably five years of scoping, planning, setting up bodies etc.
There’s 15 more years to burn fossil fuels...
Yep, we’ve seen it all before. Aston again.
Josh Frydenberg’s extraordinary AFL game
Five weeks have elapsed since the Morrison government was cast from office.
Twenty former Coalition MPs and senators, their 80 electorate officers and more than 400 ministerial advisers are working with...
Oh and my apologies, there was his effort on proxy advice, again on behalf of mates.
This one from Joe Aston can never be shared too many times.
Josh Frydenberg sustains full-body gravel rash
Josh Frydenberg’s reprehensible regulatory ambush of the proxy advice sector was disallowed by the...
The best indicator of Josh’s workload is the legislation and reform he introduced as treasurer, probably the most important portfolio there is.
If anybody can name a single item of any significance, I’d like to hear it.
The Vics would slaughter them. It’s actually a real peak period for a theoretical Vic team, a bit like it was for WA a few years back when Franklin and Kennedy were kicking huge bags.
They wouldn’t always be this strong but the current Vic lineup would wipe the floor with the other states.
FWIW I would have a three day carnival, rotating hosts
Thu night: QLD/NT v Tas (Game 3)
Fri night: NSW/ACT vs SA (Game 2)
Sat night: Vic vs WA (Game 1)
Winner of Game 1 wins the Cup.
Next carnival, it works a little like promotion and relegation. If you won Game 2 or Game 3 you go up. If...
Yeah, time to do this again.
Though happily the Herald Sun have done the work and named the six teams. God love em
Pleasing to see some pretty talented teams for NSWACT and QLDNT.
They did a mock of a tournament and had WA winning with a 5-0 record ahead of Vic at 4-1...
His problem is the electorate… he might well get elected in another electorate, particularly interstate where he’s not so despised.
It’s actually more this than the personal thing, though I’m not sure he could overcome the latter either.
Kooyong is broadly symptomatic of the wider problem that...
I think he’s not running because there’s a very good chance he’ll get beaten again.
People don’t like him, his electorate spoke and would speak again if given the chance.
Josh’s process is to think up a job he would like. Not one he’s qualified for or would be any good at, but one that he would like in terms of media coverage and rorting opportunities.
He then gets somebody in the media to float it for him and gauges the reaction.
He did it with the AFL job. He...
All that is known about it is in the episode “The Mr Cruel Triangle”, on Andrew Rule’s Life And Crimes podcast.
Iddles has relayed the story before but obviously gave Rule the go-ahead to name names.
Alfie Gay was a career criminal that Iddles knew quite well and spoke to regularly following...
It wasn’t at all “on the world scale”. It was an AFL issue.
ASADA and WADA had no interest in investigating or sanctioning Essendon as a club or any of the officials. They have a strict liability policy when it comes to athletes and nobody else was in their sights. ASADA actually praised Hird...
