Opinion Rank the 5 most heartbreaking finals losses you can recall (from a neutral perspective)

Anything is possible, but we were only 12 wins and 10 losses that year, and even if we were able to somehow beat the Saints the following week, we would have then had to have beaten the 17-5 Eagles. Tough

Pictures of people and things that can outcoach Ken Hinkley

He sure could. Was the driving force behind 7 Premierships for the Cats over a 10 year period. Port really should enquire about his services.

Opinion Rank the 5 most heartbreaking finals losses you can recall (from a neutral perspective)

05 was extremely heart breaking yes, but had we won, were we realistically going to go on and win the Premiership that year? I see 2013 as more heartbreaking as it was a chance for sweet revenge against the Hawks, and had we won, we were in with a genuine chance at another flag.

Geelong haven't sacked a head coach since 1988

Interesting point is that all 4 Geelong coaches since 1989 made at least 1 Grand Final, and 3 of them made 3 Grand finals.

Who is your favourite player from a different team?

Used to be Lenny Hayes, how could one not admire this guy? Now might have to be Chad Warner. Absolute gun, and bonus that he was a Cats supporter 😁. Also like Touk Miller. Great player and very humble.

    List Mgmt. Welcome Jordan Clark

Cats fans never saw much of an attitude problem either from what I can remember. All we really heard was that Matthew Scarlett didn't like him because of his work ethic etc. Most of us were disappointed that we largely stopped playing him and then traded him out as we knew he had talent. We used...

What are some of the biggest pieces of revisionist history in the AFL?

That 1897 is the year when Premierships started to he counted for the VFL/AFL. In reality, Premierships back until the 1870s used to be included in club's official tallies. That was until some time in the 1930s/40s, when the historical revisionists came along and changed the start date to what...

Autopsy AFL 2024 Round 12 - Demons v Freo Sun June 2nd 1pm AEST (TIO)

One of the craziest results I've seem for some time. Who knew Fremantle could score like that

Review Slow starting Cats come storming home to defeat Tigers by 30 points

What a game from Bowes. I know he has had other good ones, but after last night, I think he has all but cemented his spot in the side, and completely put to bed all the steak knives talk from his critics. Definitely a best 22 player in my view.

Bar a select few, most others seem horribly out of form. Hawkins, Cameron, SDK and Stewart at the top of that list. All key players as well. Very concerning.

    News Clarko in strife again

It certainly has been. I'm sure it's not the only factor, but the racism saga seems to have affected him very deeply.

    News Clarko in strife again

Do we even know the facts yet? If he swore at an official, he should be reprimanded. But if he just swore out of frustration, I honestly don't see what the big deal is. Maybe another please explain.

Opinion What unpopular AFL opinions do you have? - Part 2

May be a tad of bias seeping through, but I think there is an over emphasis in AFL circles placed on the importance of teams winning multiple Premierships in a row (as opposed to winning them with gaps in between). I.e., when people say things to the effect that Geelong didn’t win back to back...

Autopsy AFL 2024 Round 11 - Cats v GWS Sat May 25th 4:35pm AEST (GMHBA)

This was looking like a clash for the ages a few weeks ago, before both sides lost a bit of form. Feeling pretty confident about this one with some key players coming back. Cats by 27.

Worst Coach your club has ever had?

Since I've been watching Gary Ayres. Blight, Thompson and Scott all extremely good. Blight my favourite of the lot. Very unfortunate not to get a flag. Just came up against some ultra tough opposition.

    The Bichmond T119ers

It's actually quite flattering that they have tried to copy our model. However, it seems they missed the part about not paying too much for guys your bring in (in terms of both $ & draft picks).

    The downfall of Fox Footy.

Yep, it feels like a place with a real boy's club mentality. I certainly wouldn't fork out a subscription for it. Fan based media is going to become bigger and bigger in my view, as it is led by highly passionate, informed and relatable everyday supporters, like you and I.

Scott Pendlebury - Standing in the game?

Still behind a few others like Fyfe, Danger and Dusty on pure playing ability, but if we take his entire resume into account and also consider factors such as leadership, he is right at the top in my eyes and probably even pips Selwood despite obviously having less flags. He certainly has...

Autopsy Cats lose to Suns by 64 points.

Yes, Geelong had a very poor night, but so many people in the media (and across the board really) are losing their minds over it. Yes, it was bad, but we had a lot of key outs and had never played in those difficult conditions before. Suns on the other hand have played there a handul of times...
