Yes, he averages 13.5 disposals per game in the VFL, that is 10 less disposals per game than Sidey has averaged over his career in the AFL
Yes I know Flys game plan is about efficiency, but to match Sideys efficiency and creativity of disposals with 10 less disposals per game, the quality of...
He isnt a ball magnet, or at least not yet...
Of his 30 VFL games he has managed to get over 20 possessions precisely 3 times. If you are advocating for him to replace Sidey then you are advocating him to play midfield/wing, and midfield is to a large extent a numbers game, and so far Harvey...
You are confusing being tall with playing tall. Take Hawk premiership player Grant Birchall, 194 cm tall as well. Played as a running half back flank. So why are Birchall and McInnes not considered talls where Checkers is? It’s how they play. Birchall and McInnes aren’t strong overhead, they...
Agree that we payed too much for him, and I can certainly buy the argument that we didnt need to cough up valuable draft capital for a small forward when it looks (at this early stage) that we have a couple of promising ones developing in the VFL like Hooker Harrison and Joe Richards...
But I...
QFT
I like Trey, wish him well, a good state league CHB. At AFL level, he is too small and has to play as a flanker. To be an AFL quality flanker you need a weapon. You have to be either:
An interceptor (Langdon)
A rebounder (Noble)
A negator (Tooves)
Of course the really elite ones are...
thanks Jen,
Yes, I was talking about the previous week against Coburg when he played well, not the Essendon game..
you can find the stats here: https://vfl.aflmstats.com/player/Oleg_Markov
Well they say a week is a long time in football, and here is a case in point. Markov was excellent last week. Dominated in the VFL like an AFL standard player should with 27 disposals; but one not so stellar game, and now is about done apparently
Well Murphy's 1 wood is that he is a 1 on 1 beast. He plays close to a dangerous opponent, and hardly ever loses a contest, if he cant mark he will get a fist in to halve it. Murphy's close checking allows our looser interceptors like Howe and Moore space to mark.
The 1 on 1 contested stuff is...
I’m puzzled by the continual references I see to Allan being a wing. Whenever ive seen him play wing he struggles, disappears, can’t find the footy. OTOH when he plays in the guts he can look great. For me his strengths are what he can do in congestion. His handball feeds under pressure can be...
Partially yes….if you don’t think it makes a difference you’d better let Fly know that he is flogging the boys in the preseason for no reason. A fully fit battle hardened Goldsack would have done a better job than an under-done Goldsack returning from an ACL…
in terms of your second point I...
