Yeah i find it hard to see Hansford lining up in a stanhope jumper next season. Has been flirting with the idea to play elsewhere every off season basically ever since winning the premiership as an 18 year old when Stanhope were premiers and champions, as you would remember fondly Mainland:D.
Then i might have got my wires crossed on the matter. From what i gathered he told patto he was leaving for Shepp East and money wasn't the reason for him exiting the club
In all honesty i dont think Rushworth will make the five. I watched them in the night series at Stanhope and there skills and decision making was poor at best. If Rushy somehow manage to make the five it would be fair to say the competition in the KDL Under 18s is slipping significantly.
Grints wont be anywhere else but Stanhope this season. Has been in contact quite regularly of late with the coach on when a possible return could be happening and Grints himself said it would be more than likely in the next month or so.
Not sure on bests for either team. As for Norman yes he played ones. kicked a couple of goals and done a very handy job in the ruck with young Zach Dearing and Jamie Densley against the experienced Scotty Hanson
Thoughts of round 1 games coming up...
Girgarre v Stanhope-
Lancaster v Undera-
Murchison v Merrigum-
Rushworth v Ardmona-
Tally v Nagambie-
Violet Town v Avenel-
North got up in the end by around 15 goals. Moved the ball very well and were hard at it all day, wanting the ball more than Nagambie. Jamesy didnt have the impact most would think when his team gets up by 15 goals. Interesting to see Stanhopes 2008 Premiership player Lee Rowlands lining up on...
Fairweather only played 2 quarters because he wears contact lenses and left them up in Queensland over the off season so he was unable to see the ball clearly when the game started to get darker even with the lighting
I think the standard in the KDL 18's this year will be fairly low judging by what i have seen in the Stanhope Night Series and the exodus of players that have left either to other leagues or are too old due to age restrictions. Would this be a fair call? Still alot of handy players running...
Stanhope played Elmore on Friday night in a 6 quarter hitout and the signs from our point of view were very good heading into the season proper. Not exactly sure of final scores but pretty positive Stanhope won by around 5 goals in the end. Michael Fairweather played only the first two quarters...
Unfortunately probably not. Rushy have a young side this year and he would be one of there better players. Just shows how good Rushy will travel this year!
